In 1988 during the Paralympic Games in Seoul, South Korea, Dennis Oehler became the first amputee to ever run the 100 meter sprint in under 12 seconds. His time of 11.7 seconds set a new world record in disabled sports.

In 1989 Dennis, with partner Todd Schaffhauser, held the first ever Walking/Running Clinic for amputees. Now, 15 years later and having trained over 8,000 amputees, Dennis has seen hundreds of cases of severe rashes due to unwanted bacterial growth that can occur within the leg socket.
